Workshop Description:

In this hands on interactive session you will participate in a Forest School session, learn the Forest School Ethos and hear what is happening in Manitoba.

“Forest School is an environmental education program that originated in Europe. Students visit the same local woodland, outdoor classroom, or park on a regular basis over an extended period of time. Through nature-based and child-directed learning, young people develop problem-solving skills, the ability to interact effectively with others, and knowledge across subject disciplines.” www.forestschoolcanada.ca

Presenter’s Bio:

mavisMavis Lewis-Webber was one of 32 people to participate in Forest School Canada’s pilot project Practitioner Course. Mavis is an ECE instructor at Red River College who embeds the value of outdoor play into all of the courses she teaches. As a founding member of the Manitoba Nature Summit Mavis continues to be a board member.
